Colbert Mashile was commisioned to create a linocut for a limited edition book containing the first chapter of J.M. Coetzees’ “Life and Times of Michael K.” In response to this commision, Mashile produced a series of delicate and evocative images inspired by the characters in the novel.

Colbert Mashile was commisioned to create a linocut for a limited edition book containing the first chapter of J.M. Coetzees’ “Life and Times of Michael K.” In response to this commision, Mashile produced a series of delicate and evocative images inspired by the characters in the novel. His portfolio of eight linocuts in a limited edition of ten, capture the sense of alienation and dislocation that Coetzees’ novel so powerfully evokes. The portfolio is presented in an elegant cloth-bound box and can be purchased from David Krut Arts Resource.
