In Pinky Promise, the photographer Pierre Crocquet de Rosemond (born 1971) presents portraits of one of the most loaded subjects in any culture, the victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse. Without passing judgment, his pictures capture both the suffering of the victim and the loneliness of the perpetrator. The act of abuse is frozen in history; it is not permitted to melt away but remains crystallized in eternity. Thus, contemporary portraits are in black and white, while personal documents, such as a family album and other ephemera, are lit up in brilliant colors.
