Description

I thought of Peggy Guggenheim as a role model. But our paths were very different. Her artistic milieu was New York, Paris, London and Venice.Mine was Highlands  North and Hyde Park, Glenhazel and Giyane, Braamfontein and Bronkhorstspruit.Guggenheim was in at the birth of the great art movements of the 20th.I was in at the demise of apartheid with boycotts and protests.

But we shared on major drive-Peggy Guggenheim and I:  a passion for art and a desire for recognition of our talents. We each had to play the cards we had been dealt. It was not a fair contest. But I did have a few aces-authentic African culture, Mandela, a few Queens, and a joker in my pack.
