Enlightening students about printmaking and art making through collaborating

David Krut Projects Cape Town (DKCT) were delighted to host art and design students from Grades 10 – 12 from St Joseph’s Marist Brothers in Rondebosch. The DKCT team spoke in detail about the print workshop, the types of prints David Krut Workshop (DKW) edition, the process of printmaking and entrepreneurship in the workplace. They showed works by artists such as William Kentridge, Deborah Bell, Diane Victor and Stephen Hobbs, to name a few, in order to demonstrate their talk.

The students were able to learn about DKW’s recent collaboration with William Kentridge on his Triumphs and Laments woodcut series, focusing on Mantegna (the first woodcut in the series) and showed them the printmaking demonstration visual relating to this project.

Overall, the team were able to give the students a basic understanding of printmaking, editions and themes within which artists work.
