Stanford Creative Works (SCW) and the Children’s Book Network (CBN)
Once more we collaborated with the Children’s Book Network (CBN) for their workshop about local heroes on the 22 April 2017. We had a wonderful collaboration with Children’s Book Network (CBN) during our December holiday program in 2016 and were blessed to have Lesley Beake facilitating 2 days of reading with our children.
We started our day with body tapping..it warms up the muscles and enhances concentration
The Children’s Book Network (CBN) began early in 2012, the dream of founders Gçina Mhlophe, Lesley Beake and Sindiwe Magona. Their purpose is to bring books to children and children to books – to make reading cool, exciting and encouraging.
Beautiful to see how children open up and get in touch with themselves and each other through movement exercises
We did a hand warm up by creating bowls from salt dough with the children. When investigating the bowls we found that each one was unique and special just as the children are.
At SCW we emphasize the importance of stories, reading, books and storytelling and therefore we were delighted when Lesley Beake asked us to join her and her team for their local hero workshop in Stanford. We facilitated a movement sequence for the attending children. It was a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to ongoing collaboration with this great initiative.
Thank you to Lesley Beake for the wonderful collaboration
